What is the world wide web?

The World Wide Web was created in the early 1990s by the European Laboratory for Particle Physics. The goal of the WWW was to allow researchers to work together on projects and to make project information easily accessible. The first publicly accessible Web site was created in 1993.

When you log onto the Internet using Netscape, Yahoo or any browser, you are viewing documents on the World Wide Web. The current foundation on which the WWW functions is Hypertext using HTML. This is the system that provides highlighted links to other documents on the Web. URLs (uniform resource locators) are the unique addresses of documents on the Web.

Most companies created their own web sites on the WWW to sell or provide information about their products or services. FINMART has produced a business advisory vortal called “finmart.com.my”. This business advisory vortal is dedicated to corporate executives and business people who wants to know more about the business operating environment and to trade in Malaysia.
