What is a browser?

A "browser" is a computer program that resides on a computer enabling you to use the computer to view WWW documents and access the Internet taking advantage of text formatting, hypertext links, images, sounds, motion, and other features. Some of the common browsers used are Netscape, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Macweb, etc.

To access the Internet by computer, you need a personal computer, a modem or other telecommunications link, and software to dial into an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Presently, in Malaysia, there are three active ISPs, i.e., (i) Jaring, (ii) TM Net and (iii) Maxis Net. There are more ISPs approved by the Malaysian government but they have not activate their service yet.
