Why an organization needs to train its workers?

Human beings keep on learning everyday. We learn by listening. To achieve better listening results, ask questions to show that you are interested and to convey what you do not understand. This is an excellent way to acquire knowledge, skills, business relationships, profits and satisfaction.

Everyone needs training. Organizations need to train employees on a regular basis to assist them to do the right things, to follow corporate culture, to motivate enthusiasm, to improve positive attitudes, to initiate managing change and get things done. Remember, managing is an art and not just a science, therefore, you have to train each of your employees accordingly.

When you train an employee, he will in turn trains other employees either using on-the-job training or structured training. It is fun and will more so if you start doing it.

To understand human behaviour and improve the employees performance, employers need to understand the "Pygmallion Effect" or sometimes referred to as the "shelf-fulfilling" prophecy. The Pygmallion Effect says that:

"Watch your thoughts, they become your words;

Watch your words, they become your actions;

Watch your actions, they become your habits;

Watch your habits, they become your character."

The basic tenet behind the self-fulfilling prophecy is that is a person believes something to be true, then he will act out that belief in the same manner. Subconscious thoughts, when expressed, become your attitude. This philosophy is very important in training.

In pursuing training, multinational organizations, banking group and conglomerates do have in-house trainers and training facilities. However, not many companies are so fortunate. Therefore, most SMI/SME companies do rely on professional trainers to provide specific training needs for their staff.
